Report highlights plastic pollution.

Our report, "Leading the Way to a Clean Ocean," highlights the damage caused by plastic pollution and notes that more than 80 local and national governments worldwide have taken action to address the problem by banning or imposing fees on disposable plastic bags. California paves the way for cleaner cars.

California's pioneering clean cars standards, which we helped pass in 2006, paved the way for national fuel-economy standards announced by President Obama last fall (shown here with our federal global warming program director, Nathan Willcox). Nationwide, the fleetwide fuel efficiency average will double to 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025: The single biggest step ever taken to break our dependence on oil and tackle global warming.

Nation's first cap-and-trade program enacted.

The California Air Resources Board finalized the nation’s first ever economy-wide cap and trade program to drive down global warming pollution.

No more BPA in sippy cups.

Gov. Brown signed a bill, which we supported, that prevents companies from using this potentially toxic chemical to make baby bottles and sippy cups.

Pasadena bans plastic bags.

Pasadena became the 14th California county, city or town to ban disposable plastic bags. These local bans have an immediate impact to keep Plastic out of the ocean, while building momentum for a statewide ban. We need your help to finish the job.
