Background

California is home to some of the country's most beautiful places, with 8 national parks, hundreds of state parks and over 4 million acres of wild forests. Unfortunately, too many of our beautiful places have been lost to logging, mining, oil drilling, and overdevelopment. That’s why we are working to protect California's parks and critical wildlife habitat, and the laws that protect them.

Wild Forests. Members of Congress are joining a bipartisan effort of 193 cosponsors to introduce the Roadless Area Conservation Act in the U.S. House of Representatives.  More

State Parks. Once again our state parks are in peril. The Governor's budget will close 100 state parks. While we all appreciate the fiscal mess the state is in, closing parks will only save less then .06% of the state's budget. We need real solutions to keep our parks open. Take action

Wild Forests Keep Our State Parks Open
Over four million acres of pristine forest in our state are now at risk for oil drilling and other heavy development. Last session, Gov. Schwarzeneggar vetoed a bill that would have protected these areas for future generations.
California’s national forests provide wildlife habitat, clean drinking water and abundant recreation activities, and support a billion dollar recreation industry.
