Laura Deehan and Asm. Rebecca Bauer Kahan at the California Assembly Environment, Safety and Toxic Materials committee for hearing of Assembly Bill 363 to save the bees
Following Gov. Newsom’s veto of a bill to save the bees in 2022, Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan, with co-sponsors Environment California and NRDC brought a new bill, AB363 to a key policy committee for its first hearing. This new bill to Save the Bees, passed out of committee on Tuesday with a 7:2 vote.
In the Governor’s veto message last year, he called on the state agency, the Dept of Pesticide Regulation to take action in 2023 to address the use of the bee killing pesticides, ‘neonics’ on all non- agriculture uses, like lawns, gardens and golf courses.
This new bill would hold the agency to a clear timeline and require they consider impacts to pollinators, aquatic life and human health in their review.
Excited to work with the Governor’s office, legislative leaders and everyone who supports protecting the web of life for future generations to get this bill signed into law this year!
