A bill to ban Styrofoam takeout containers is under attack by chemical industry lobbyists, and might be stopped dead in Sacramento. With 100 million tons of plastic floating off our shore in the Pacific Garbage Patch, we need to start cutting plastic -- and Styrofoam is one of the worst offenders.

One of the opportunities you have right now is to make California the first state to ban Styrofoam takeout containers. California needs to get serious about cutting the waste that is fueling the Pacific Garbage Patch. Nothing we use for 5 minutes should be polluting the ocean for 500 years. Please take action immediately to advance a statewide ban on Styrofoam takeout containers (AB 909, formerly AB 1358).
