We can ban Styrofoam takeout containers in Huntington Beach, and help lead the way for the rest of the state to follow suit. Banning Styrofoam is a key step in cutting the waste that's fueling the Pacific Garbage Patch.

Already, 38 cities and towns have bans in place, and we think Huntington Beach should be the next one to say no to Styro. But we need Mayor Cathy Green to take action. E-mail the mayor by filling out the form on the right.

I think it's about time we put a ban on Styrofoam takeout containers, like many other cities and towns in California have done. Styrofoam is bad for the environment, and is part of the waste that frequently ends up floating in the ocean and marring California's beaches -- where it takes hundreds of years to biodegrade.
