Nothing we use once should be floating for hundreds of years in the oceans, and marring our beaches. Join with us as we work to ban single-use Styrofoam takeout containers.

Letter * Dear Governor Schwarzenegger, Our oceans are in crisis. In the middle of the Pacific, there is an island of trash twice the size of Texas, and plastic outnumbers plankton 6:1. Every year, our oceans and beaches are littered with thousands of pounds of foamed plastic, or Styrofoam, bottle caps, and other pollution. Styrofoam is not recyclable. It threatens our health, mars our beautiful beaches, and kills countless marine animals annually. We need to reduce the amount of plastic that we use every year, and eliminate the most egregious types of plastic that we use. California can lead the way in this fight by banning single use Styrofoam take out containers. We urge you to take action on this serious issue today. Thank you.
